Preferences open a new window

Pressing F2 (shortcut for Edit/Preferences) just open a new
window of redcar.
Here is what I get in the terminal (nothing new after I pressed
F2):

It is supposed to open a new window, with the preferences files in the project pane. Doesn't it show the project pane in the new window?
