Space key and Ubuntu

Reported by Babar O'Cap | June 7th, 2010 @ 01:36 PM

With Ubuntu 9.10 and below, it's impossible to make a space with the < Space > key.
I tried with Ruby 1.8.6 or 1.8.7, Sun JVM 1.6.0.20 or OpenJDK 1.6.0_0-b12.
Here the the Debug > Command History logs :

Redcar::AutoCompleter::AutoCompleteCommand
Redcar::Top::NewCommand
Redcar::Top::FocusWindowCommand

With the last version of Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 it's OK.
Very strange ...

Thanks for your amazing work, Daniel !!!

    I have Ubuntu 9.10 and I have the same problems. I was wondering if you get to see the project pane bottom scrolling bar to scroll horizontally.

    • State changed from “new” to “open”

    Is this still occurring in 0.3.7? I have no idea what this could be and I can't reproduce it....

    Strange, I was running Ubuntu Karmic until a couple days ago and never had any problem with the space key. Also not seeing any problems since I upgraded to Lucid.

    OK, I found how to fix this issue.
    You mustn't used an alternative keyboard layout.
    Go to "System > Preferences > Keyboard"
    Then choose the default layout of your language.
    Finally launch RedCar again, and the space key works as expected !

    NB: If you have a root access, You can apply this new layout to all users of your system.
