Various options available when no active tab is open causes issues

OS: Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.4
There are quite a few options available to be clicked (not disabled like most) that cause numerous errors when clicked without an active tab open.
- File > Close Tree
- File > Close Window
- Edit > Cut
- Edit > Copy
- Edit > Paste
- Edit > Duplicate Region
- Project > Runnables
- View > Appearance
- View > Previous/Next Tab
- View > Move Tab Left/Right
- View > Switch Tab
Ideally these should all be disabled as well.
There are plenty of others which are clickable (and should remain that way) but cause errors. See ticket #256
