Better control over files that show up

Dunno if this is already possible: In TextMate (yeah, sorry) I can specify patterns for files that should/shouldn't show up in the project tree when opening a directory. Example: I do want .gitignore, .bashrc and .yardopts to show up. I don't want to see .o, .rbc and others.
