Unicode chars cause search to highlight wrong phrase

If a text file contains Unicode characters which use more than one byte in UTF-8, the search will highlight the wrong phase, if the search matches anything behind these characters. Looks to me like you count bytes, not characters to highlight the phrase, as more of those chars will shift the highlighted phrase behind.
