Redcar doesn't use PATH when launched from /usr/local/bin

Reported by Josh Girivn | November 21st, 2012 @ 03:38 AM

Hi all,

Love Redcar, the best Grails editor on Linux by far I think.

I have installed it originally using the gem, and worked from it with a .desktop file, but had a lot of trouble.

I then removed it and installed it from the experimental .deb installer, running 0.14.0-dev currently

When I start it up from Unity, I cannot run grails or many other command-line tools from the "Custom Command" command, as the $PATH isn't loaded from the .bashrc or anything similar.

However, it works if I launch the app from my home directory instead (cd'ed into ~/ and launched using "redcar" which resides in /usr/local/bin/redcar), it does load the path correctly!

I've also tried editing the .desktop file and using the --home-dir opt, pointing it to my home directory, however it doesn't appear to do anything as far as I can see.

What do I need to do to get Redcar to load my $PATH correctly, so Grails can run?

FYI, I'm running Ubuntu 12.10, installed Redcar using the experimental .deb installer, and have Ruby 1.9.3 installed using RVM. Xulrunner is also installed correctly, manually.

Cheers,
Josh

Bonus Question: The Grails bundle seems to have Commands included (it's a port from Textmate) however they don't appear in the Runnables list when I've loaded a grails project as a folder?
