Commenting code block doesn't work

Commenting a block of code (while editing an *.rb file) with "Ctrl+/" (alternative to "Cmd+/" in Textmate) doesn't work for me (Ubuntu 10.04, redcar 0.3.8.1).
Or am I missing something?
