Redcar won't save file to FUSE mount

I got a FUSE mount using curlftpfs in ubuntu 10.10 and installed
redcar 0.11 using RVM.
Mounting my site with a typical
sudo curlftpfs -o allow_other ftp://user:password@ftp.site
~/mymountfolder
Then make a change on a file, and save it. It won't save, tried the
menu save option, the icon save and ctrl+s the * stays next to the
name.
Other file editors such as gedit or kate or even leafpad have no problem saving it, they take a little (as expected) but do it.
Any other info i'll be happy to provide it.
