Ubuntu 11.10 xulrunner packages deprecated

Can an alternative mechanism of calling in editor browser functionality be provided. Ubuntu package repositories from 11.10 onwards have removed it citing issues of security patches and problems at Mozilla.
Cant we remove the dependency on xulrunner?

I can't find a way to install the required dependencies on Ubuntu 12.04. I have tried to build xulrunner from source and undergone much trial and tribulation, installed lots of dependencies and shook my fist at the blind idiot god of gcc but I think it is not going to happen for me.
