Missing dependancy gconf2
Reported by Will | April 21st, 2009 @ 03:24 PM
I just installed redcar on a Fedora Core 10 box.
The first problem was that I had to add the
require 'gems'
to the lib/dbu.rb file so it could fins the dbus gem.
It now fails on the require 'gconf2' in gems.rb as follows
[will]$ ./bin/redcar
/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `gem_original_require': no such file to load -- gconf2 (LoadError)
from /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `require'
from /tmp/redcar/bin/../lib/gems.rb:9
from /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `gem_original_require'
from /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `require'
from ./bin/redcar:69
I believe I have all the dependencies installed so I am not sure what the problem might be.

- Tag changed from gconf2 to gconf2, ruby-gnome2, ruby-gnome2-all
So I figured out that the yum install of ruby-gnome2 does not include gconf.
So I downloaded the ruby-gnome2-all tar file from sourceforge and built that.
It all works now on FC10. (Yet to play with it but at least it pops up)

I'm not sure why a require rubygems was necessary, as I dont remember having any issues like that when I built it on F10.
I do know that there is a ruby-gconf2 package separate from ruby-gnome2, so a yum install ruby-gconf2 also would have fixed the issue.
